Introduction
A radiator hose is a flexible rubber tube that carries coolant between your engine and radiator. It's a key component in the engine’s cooling system, helping regulate temperature and prevent overheating. Most vehicles have multiple hoses, each with a specific function and heat tolerance.

Core Functions of a Radiator Hose
1.Transfers coolant between engine components and radiator
2.Handles extreme temperature and pressure
3.Maintains coolant circulation, enabling the radiator to absorb and dissipate engine heat

Types of Radiator Hoses
Upper Radiator Hose
Connects the engine to the top of the radiator; carries hot coolant away from the engine.

Lower Radiator Hose
Connects the water pump to the radiator; returns cooled coolant to the engine.

Bypass Hose
Circulates coolant within the engine when the thermostat is closed to prevent localized overheating.

Overflow Hose
Transfers excess coolant to the overflow reservoir when pressure builds up inside the system.

Note: Hoses are not interchangeable. Each is designed for a specific location, heat range, and function.

How It Works
The coolant absorbs heat from the engine and travels through the upper hose into the radiator. There, it cools down and returns via the lower hose with the help of the water pump. The bypass and overflow hoses manage temperature and pressure during different stages of engine operation.

Signs of a Faulty Radiator Hose
1.Coolant leak under the car
2.Overheating engine
3.Low coolant warning light
4.Soft, cracked, or swollen hoses
5.Visible bulging or collapse due to internal blockage or pressure loss

Inspect hoses during routine oil changes. Replace every 4–5 years or 60,000–100,000 km, or as recommended by your mechanic.

Conclusion
A radiator hose may seem simple, but its role is critical. Understanding its function and knowing how to spot failure signs can help prevent costly engine repairs. Choose high-quality, vehicle-specific hoses and perform regular maintenance to ensure reliable cooling system performance.
