Guangzhou’s Huangpu District has launched the world’s first mass-production line for flying cars as XPENG AeroHT’s 120,000-square-meter smart factory enters trial production. The plant aims for an initial annual output of 5,000 units, scaling up to 10,000 in the next stage.

The dual-mode vehicle—combining road driving with eVTOL vertical flight—can complete assembly of a flying module in roughly 30 minutes.

This milestone signals the transition of China’s low-altitude economy from prototype demonstration to true industrialization. Urban air mobility, low-altitude logistics and aerial commuting are expected to accelerate as production ramps up.

Challenges remain in certification, safety, air-traffic governance and infrastructure, yet Guangzhou’s breakthrough positions China as a frontrunner in the global race toward next-generation aviation. The low-altitude era is quietly beginning over the Pearl River Delta.
